Cornered, While the Sun Shines

This work was made during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and explores my shift from pre-pandemic to post pandemic life. During this time I became intimately familiar with the way light shone through the windows of my apartment at different moments throughout the day. I’ve always been enamored with limitations in the photographic process, so in this project I explore those limitations while capturing the nuances and extremes of natural light. All of these images were made within my apartment of sunlight whether it was directly through a window, or reflected off a car, another building, etc. Documenting the natural light signified to me the nature of our existence, especially during the pandemic: The outside world kept moving without the fuss of humanities day to day as we all collectively quarantined and changed our normal behaviors. Making these pictures became a way to relax and process current events, despite feeling confined, anxious, and uneasy.
